Backpack buddies

Backpack Buddies feeds hungry children in Bluffton, SC and surrounding areas. These children receive subsidized breakfast and lunch at school and may go hungry over the weekend. Backpack Buddies was developed to help these most food-insecure children. In February, Coastal Shores donates 10% of all gross sales of mulch and pine straw directly to Backpack Buddies

Dress for success

The Lowcountry Dress for Success group partners with local school social workers to ensure that students whose families could not otherwise afford to purchase them have new school uniforms and accessories. The group believes that dignity is key to success in education, and that having new clothing for school provides a path to that goal. Each spring, Coastal Shores makes a monetary donation to Dress for Success to help provide uniforms for children in need in our area.

bluffton self help

There are many individuals and families right in our backyard that are in need and often go without basic necessities. Bluffton Self Help exists to meet those needs through their food bank, bill payment assistance, medical services, programs for children, and more. Every November, Coastal Shores gives customers the opportunity to participate in a food drive, and we match item for item what is donated. Last year, Coastal Shores and customers donated a total of 5,000 nonperishable food items to Bluffton Self Help’s food bank.

second helpings

Second Helpings is the only volunteer-driven organization in Beaufort, Hampton, and Jasper counties authorized to rescue food. Their volunteers pick up the food and deliver it at no cost to fulfillment agency partners and provide it directly to people in need. Coastal Shores matches customer donations in the Spring to help supply and stock the food pantry at Second Helpings.
