Late 2021 Industry Update

The landscape industry is one of the many industries facing significant materials, supply, and labor shortages. Manufacturing disruptions, raw material shortages, damaging weather events, and global transportation costs have led to product shortages and increased costs.

  • Plants, especially those 7 gallons or larger, are expected to remain in short supply through 2022.

  • Freight delays are making hardscape products and fertilizer, increasingly difficult to obtain, resulting in higher costs and longer lead times.

  • Irrigation and lighting electronics, wiring supplies, draining fittings, and PVC pipe are in short supply raising costs significantly. Prices on these materials have increased between 50-200% this year.

  • 2021 has brought the worst landscape labor market to date. Even if companies have materials, it is probably that they do not have the man power to install them in a timely manner.

These products are expected to remain in short supply with inflated costs for the foreseeable future. Coastal Shores Landscaping is working to adapt and innovate to ensure that these shortages impede as little as possible with our customers but appreciate your patience as we navigate them.
