What can I do about deer eating my plants?

A deer with a few pals can turn your landscape into a buffet.  There are many deer-resistant plants available.  However, there is an equal number of plants that once discovered, will become a late-night snack for a hungry deer.  If you do not want to limit the plant material in your landscape, you can try several repellent options.  The best defense against deer is mothballs and blood meal.  Another choice is chemical repellant.  Chemical repellants work well, but you may have to apply them several times per week following rain or irrigation.  The bottom line is nothing works 100% of the time.  A hungry deer will try almost anything for food!
