Meet the Team
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Rob earned his degree in Business Management from Ball State University before moving to the South Carolina Lowcountry in 2002. That same year, he and his wife, Jessie, founded Coastal Shores Landscape (formerly R.S. Service), driven by a shared vision to shape their community through premium service.
Before launching Coastal Shores, Rob owned and operated several coin laundromats — an experience that deepened his passion for business, leadership, and service. Today, he remains focused on creating meaningful impact within the company and throughout the community.
Rob and Jessie have been married for 28 years (1997), and they have three children and three grandchildren (with one more on the way)! His favorite plant is the native Sabal Palmetto.
Rob Shrieve, Owner
A native of Indiana, Jessie moved to the Lowcountry with her husband, Rob, in 2002 to start what would become Coastal Shores Landscape. With a background in business and a heart for people, Jessie has played a vital role in building the company’s culture — one rooted in generosity, care, and community.
Jessie’s passion extends beyond the business. She’s actively involved in local organizations and outreach efforts throughout Bluffton, reflecting her belief that true success comes from serving others and giving back.
Together with Rob, Jessie has built both a thriving business and a strong family foundation. Married for over 28 years, she takes pride in watching their three children grow while continuing to invest in the community they love.

Zach Yelton, Director of Premium Services
Originally from Perry, Georgia, Zach earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Horticulture with a minor in Business from Auburn University. With over 20 years of professional experience in the landscape industry, he brings a deep knowledge of both the art and science of creating exceptional outdoor spaces.
Starting as a college student designing and installing landscapes, he went on to spend 11 years with a landscape firm, gaining hands-on experience in landscape maintenance, horticultural applications, design and installation, agronomy, sports field construction and management, account management, and sales.
In 2018, Zach joined the Coastal Shores team and currently serves as Director of Premium Services, leading with both expertise and passion. He loves teaching others how to create and care for the landscapes that define the Lowcountry’s natural beauty.
His favorite plant is the Mystic Spires Salvia.
Whitaker Knight, Account Manager
Originally from Quercus, VA, Whitaker earned a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture with a concentration in Landscape Design from Auburn University. During his time there, he was actively involved in the Landscape and Nursery Association (serving as Secretary), the Horticulture Club, and participated in the Auburn University Orr Study Tour in Japan.
Whitaker has worked professionally in the landscape industry since 2016, gaining diverse experience in horticulture, design, and maintenance. Before joining Coastal Shores in 2025, he served as a horticulturist at Quail Hollow and later with the Town of Hilton Head Island, where he further developed his expertise in coastal plant care and sustainable landscape management.
Outside of work, he enjoys running, and he ran 900 miles between his 32nd and 33rd birthday. His favorite plant is the Live Oak, because it reminds him of home.
Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Derek is a retired Battalion Chief from Bluffton, South Carolina. After a rewarding career in public service, Derek joined the Coastal Shores team in 2021, bringing strong leadership and a deep sense of teamwork.
Outside of work, Derek enjoys spending time outdoors. His favorite plant is the Tulip Poplar tree — though the Sunshine Ligustrum holds a close second.
Derek Franks, Fleet, Facilities, and Equipment Manager
Kate Carle, Production Manager
Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware, Kate now proudly calls Bluffton home. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master’s in Human Services Counseling from Liberty University.
Before joining Coastal Shores, Kate built a strong foundation in customer service and leadership — spending five years in sales at Sea Pines, and two years as a Teller and Financial Service Representative at South State Bank.
Joining Coastal Shores in 2020, Kate brings that same dedication and care to her role, helping to connect clients, vendors, and team members alike. For her, this work goes far beyond a job — it’s about family, growth, and community. She loves learning about horticulture, supporting the team’s development, and building lasting relationships with customers.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys caring for her collection of houseplants — especially those with unique textures and colors — and tending to her garden’s blooming camellias. Fun fact: she’s a certified scuba diver and once helped raise miniature kangaroos growing up!
April Grealish, HR & Finance Coordinator
Originally from Augusta, Georgia, April brings valuable experience in accounting and bookkeeping to the Coastal Shores team. Having spent several years with an accounting firm, she quickly developed strong skills in accounting, payroll, and administrative operations, becoming a trusted resource for team members and clients alike.
What April enjoys most about Coastal Shores is the people — working alongside a team that feels more like family and contributes daily to the company’s mission of excellence and community care.
